Welcome to the Means of Escape website.
Means of Escape are a dub, trip hop, downtempo, electronica outfit from rural Suffolk, UK.
From bass driven dub to soulful lyrical songs, via trip hop-esque tracks, they will have you nodding to the beat into the small hours. Using old radio shows and field recordings, alongside catchy guitar and synth riffs, this is a truly unique sound full of depth, heart and soul. Rather than a super heavy shaking dub, Means of Escape have a natural vibration that feels like it has grown organically out of the Sufflolk clay based soil, the style is locally referred to as “wattle and dub” in attribution to the centuries old traditional building technique found across the region. The band combines high vibes and elegant grooves for ambient chillout or a delectable funky boogie, occasionally topped off with a satirical twist when attempting to get an understanding of the wider madder world from a rural position.
